Search for missing couple lost at flight 2 years ago recommences with new lead

In June, 2017, a couple rented an aircraft from Cranbrook, but never landed at their destination in Kamloops.

Alex Simons and Sydney Robillard rented a Piper Warrior aircraft on June 8 to make the trip between Cranbrook and Kamloops but were never seen again.

According to Missing People in Canada, Simons was a pilot bringing himself and his girlfriend from Lethbridge, Alta., to his hometown of Kamloops.

According to Natalie Lindgren, a relative, “new discussions with experts and recent information have determine a new area of interest in the St. Mary Valley and Redding Creek area.”

However, she has since updated the post noting that new “key” information has led them to search North of Kimberley in the Lost Dog Valley area.

“For the first time in almost 2 years Matt and I finally have a formal opportunity to search for Alex and Sydney. Both families fight every single day for peace and closure but our hearts never stop fighting for an answer,” she added.

The search party will begin their task from May 8 to 10 with the use of drones, led by a group which assists in finding missing persons called Wings of Mercy; as well as civilian pilots and off-road vehicles.
