Several models of a space heater sold in Canada are being recalled due to a potential fire hazard.
The recall includes various models of GoveeLife and Govee Smart Electric Space Heaters, which are sold online through Amazon from October 2021 and May 2024.
Around 48,584 units were sold in Canada and about 512,500 units were sold in the United States.
According to the Health Canada recall page, there is a risk of fire and burn hazards but no injury reports have been received in Canada.
Seven reports of the heater overheating have been received as of Oct. 28, however.
In the US, the company has received 106 reports of overheating and one report of a “minor burn injury.”
The model numbers affected by the recall include H7130 (including the H7130101 variation), H7131, H7132, H7133, H7134 and H7135.
The space heaters were sold in black and white. They measure from 9 inches in height to 26 inches in height depending on the model, the recall said.
Anyone who bought one of the heaters can check the model number on the manufacturer’s label, which is located on the underside of each unit.
People are being advised to immediately stop using the recalled heaters and register for a refund on the company’s website.
