More good polling news for the Conservatives today.
The party is 20 points ahead of the governing Liberals, according to Abacus Data’s latest offering.
Perhaps more significantly, they’re also ahead in every part of Canada – including the Liberal stronghold of Quebec.
Abacus’s poll was taken between July 31 and Aug. 7, with 1,550 Canadian adults taking part.
It’s the 16th survey in a row that the Tories have been ahead by about 20 points.
They came in top with 43 per cent of committed voters in this most recent poll, with the Liberals on 23 per cent and the NDP on 18 per cent.
The survey found the Conservatives well ahead in BC, Alberta, Ontario, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, as well as in Atlantic Canada.
In Quebec, too, the Tories were ahead on 31 per cent, with the Bloc Quebecois on 30 per cent.
Every age group also said they preferred the Conservatives, with 45-to-59-year-olds the most keen.
Even on gender, the Tories are dominant, with 44 per cent of men backing the Tories and 42 per cent of women.
The research from Abacus concords with other recent surveys.
A Nanos poll released earlier this month gave the Conservatives a 17-point lead, while Leger’s most recent effort gave them an 18-point lead.
