On Friday, Mars Wrigley Canada announced a voluntary recall of specific varieties of gummy candies due to the potential presence of a very thin metal strand.
The company says the metal may be embedded in the gummies or loose in the bag.
Various Skittles gummies, Starburst gummies and Lifesavers gummies products are affected.
The products were manufactured by a third party and distributed in Canada, the US and Mexico.
According to a news release, the company was contacted by consumers who alerted them of the matter. Mars Wrigley is unaware of any illnesses that have occurred.
“On the back of the package is a 10-digit manufacturing code; the first three digits in this code will indicate implicated product as described in the table to the right,” reads the release.
“Mars Wrigley Canada will work with retailers to remove recalled product from store shelves.”
If consumers believe they purchased a recalled item, they should dispose of the product.
