Zyn Nicotine Pouches recalled across Canada

Health Canada has issued a recall for Zyn Nicotine Pouches Wednesday.

According to the recall the products are being sold without market authorization across Canada.

The recall is geared towards retailers who carry a variety of flavours of the product including apple mint, bellini, black cherry, citrus, cool mint, espresso, original and spearmint.

All but one of those products has the milligrams of nicotine while the spearmint has 1.5 mg.

Health Canada says people should verify if their product is affected by the recall, consult a healthcare provider before discontinuing the affected product and to contact Health Canada if they have any questions.

Earlier this year, BC’s Ministry of Health announced new restrictions on the sale of nicotine-pouch products, which are often used as a nicotine replacement therapy product for people trying to quit smoking.

The new amendments require nicotine pouches to be kept behind the counters at pharmacies and people interested in purchasing the pouches will need to consult a pharmacists.

BC’s new rules were in response to a “concerning trend” amongst youth using the products recreationally.
