5 ways to get the most out of Kamloops this fall

Kamloops is boldly unscripted, leaving you in charge of each day’s adventure.

To help you get the most out of the upcoming season, Tailored Living has put together a list of inspiring recommendations in five different categories.

Hiking

The rolling hills that surround Kamloops invite you to experience the region from above.

Hike to the Battle Bluff lookout for an amazing panoramic view of Kamloops Lake or venture up Embleton Mountain and enjoy your lunch in the gazebo overlooking Heffley Lake. If you’re lucky, you might even catch the tail end of the summer wildflowers that line the trail.

As the morning temperatures start to drop, you’ll be breaking out your warmer layers that have been hibernating since the end of winter. But as you know, fall afternoons are still warm enough to need your full summer wardrobe. This can create a real conundrum in the closet. Too many clothes and not enough space to organize them properly.

Change the game with Custom Closet Organizers and never go without that top you couldn’t find. Walk-in or reach-in, your closet space is valuable and deserves to be utilized to its full potential.

Bring in a sense of functionality with shelves, bins, racks, valet rods and more to store all of your layers no matter the season.

Biking

While Kamloops is famous for its advanced riding at places like the Bike Ranch or Harper Mountain, Kenna Cartwright Park is a beautiful trail network for an evening ride with the whole family. Catch the sunset as you descend the array of beginner and intermediate trails with spectacular views of the valley.

How many times have you heard the words, “where’s my bike helmet?"?

Thanks to Slatwall wall organizer systems, the answer is as simple as “hanging on the wall beside all the garden tools, right above your bike, silly!”

Make the most of the wall space in your garage before it's time to start parking the vehicles indoors and there is no room.

With a wide range of accessory hangers, specialty hooks and shelving, you’ll be able to store your toys and tools where they are out of the way but easily accessible for everyone in the family.

Golfing

Kamloops has a course that will give you the experience you’re looking for. If you’re up for a challenge, try your luck at Tobiano Golf Course's notoriously tricky, yet exhilarating 7th hole tee shot over the canyon.

If you're looking for a taller challenge, try the highest elevation course in BC, The Golf Course at Sun Peaks Resort. But hurry, it'll be a ski hill again soon.

“Hunny, have you seen my golf shoes?”

“Look up, you put them in the overhead storage rack!”

By elevating the boundaries of your garage storage, you can quickly grab those golf shoes, lift the rack out of the way and arrive on tee-time.

Available in numerous shelf sizes and adjustable height ranges, stationary overhead racks are ideal for seasonal storage for seldom-used items but motorized overhead racks allow you to reclaim control of up to 400lbs of clutter with the touch of a button as often as you like.

Paddling

Kamloops is a paddler’s paradise with countless lakes that are perfect for paddleboarding, canoeing and kayaking—all of which are located less than one hour outside of downtown Kamloops.

One of them, Paul Lake, features 12 kilometres of scenic shoreline tailored to explore beaches that are perfect for paddle-up-picnics.

How often are you asked if you know where the life jackets are?

Imagine being able to say “yes I do, second door from the left, kiddo.” Thanks to custom garage cabinets that are designed to keep you on the move instead of searching for equipment, you no longer need to imagine.

Installing cabinets on one or more walls in your garage centralizes storage, creates a tidy appearance and frees up space for the second vehicle, a game table or exercise equipment. Full-wall, floor-to-ceiling or individual, Tailored Living offers a variety of finishes and colours for a complete clean look that coordinates with your home’s existing décor.

Fishing

With over 100 great fishing lakes within a one-hour drive from downtown Kamloops, this area is home to some of the best stillwater fishing in North America.

The coming fall months are prime for open water fishing at Edith Lake and Roche Lake, both located off Highway 5A, a.k.a. the Old Fishing Highway.

Other highly productive lakes to add to your bucket list this fall are Monte Lake, Tunkwa Lake and Jacko Lake.

Do you often find yourself asking if anyone has seen the pliers?

Wouldn't it be nice if they were always in the middle shelving unit above the workbench?

Get your rods ready to reel in a keeper on an organized workbench where all your tools are neatly stored within reach thanks to adjustable garage shelving and countertops designed for durability.

Nothing is more frustrating than being unable to find a piece of equipment when you’re supposed to be on your way out the door to enjoy the limited time seasonal weather in Kamloops.

Demand more from your unused space and create calm out of chaos.
