BC’s dairy farmers will donate $1 for every share we get on these IG posts

What do you, BC’s dairy farmers and Food Banks BC have in common? Coming together to support families and individuals facing food insecurity!

This summer, BC’s dairy farmers and Food Banks BC are teaming up to support our local food banks by donating $1 for every share we get on our Instagram posts that feature BC’s dairy farmers! Wondering why you should get involved?

BC dairy farmers support Food Banks BC

BC’s dairy farmers are big supporters of Food Banks BC. Since 2020, they've donated approximately 50,000 kg of dairy products and over $200,000 in cash to Food Banks BC which supports over 110 member food banks.

Sharing is caring

Between now and July 11, BC’s dairy farmers are making a $1 donation to Food Banks BC for every like and share of @viranlly and @basicswithbails IG reel, and @basicswithbails TikTok. This generous contribution, up to $50,000, includes shares from our very own Instagram account too! You get to engage on social media and help the community at the same time - talk about a win-win!

Supporting more than just calcium intake

Did you know that dairy products are one of the most requested items at food banks? That’s because they are an excellent source of essential nutrients, like calcium and vitamin D, and provide many other nutrients identified by Health Canada as lacking in Canadians’ diets. This campaign will go towards supporting BC communities, specifically those that are food insecure, by providing the resources food banks need to purchase local dairy products.

Local children need it

Here’s a sobering fact: one out of every three food bank users in BC is a child. That's around 30% of all food bank users in the province. By supporting the campaign, you're helping ensure that these children have access to nutritious dairy products to help them grow strong and healthy.

Our seniors need it too

The number of seniors (65+ years) accessing food banks has also increased by 20% over the last two years. They are often overlooked, but they need our support too. Let’s work together to care for our seniors and help them have access to the nutrition they need to p help preserve their bone and muscle health.

Building a strong community

Every month, food banks in BC provide over 248,000 meals through shelters, soup kitchens and school lunches. By taking part in this campaign, you're not just supporting Food Banks BC, you’re helping BC’s dairy farmers make a difference in the lives of thousands of others in our province.

This campaign is about so much more than the frothy milk on top of your morning cappuccino or the cheese in your favourite sandwich. It's about community, nourishment and love. Let’s team up and help raise some money to help families in need in our local communities!
