Buying this advent calendar helps the KGH Neonatal ICU

The Kelowna Sunrise Rotary Club Second Annual Season of Giving Prize Calendar, presented by Business Finders Canada, is back and available to purchase until Nov. 27!

When you purchase this charitable advent calendar, you’re supporting a variety of local projects, including the Kelowna General Hospital (KGH).

Last year, the KGH was one of the major recipients of the funds raised, and this year the Kelowna Sunrise Rotary Club wants to help them even more.

“The NICU has been the grateful recipient of many gifts from the community through the Foundation over the years. Having first-rate equipment that we trust frees our staff and physicians up to do what they do best, which is care for the baby,” says Bonnie Wilkie, NICU Nurse Educator.

Funds from last year’s calendar went towards the purchase of a BRAINZ monitor.

“Seizures in a neonate can be very subtle and difficult to detect. The application of the BRAINZ monitor allows us to detect any potential seizures and thus treat the baby effectively. Since the NICU has received the BRAINZ monitor it has been used very successfully many times at KGH,” explains Wilkie.

“These babies, who are critically ill, are at a high risk of death, but because of the equipment the Foundation provided, we have been able to see many very good outcomes for babies in our community,” she continues.

The KGH Foundation is grateful to once again be one of the chosen beneficiaries for this year’s Season of Giving Prize Calendars alongside the Child Advocacy Centre.

“It goes without saying that what the Kelowna Sunrise Rotary club does for our community is beyond admirable. They put in an incredible amount of effort towards this cause and they have set their sights high for this year! The calendars are not only filled with outstanding prizes but they are also filled with love and a sense of hope, knowing that every single purchase makes a profound difference in the lives of those who need it most,” adds Bettina Muller, Director of Philanthropy, Corporate & Community Giving, KGH Foundation.

“We’re excited to once again be partnering with the Kelowna Sunrise Rotary Club, local businesses, organizations and of course, all of you who are purchasing a calendar!”

You can purchase the calendar for just $20 for a chance to win one of 202 prizes. There are 10,000 calendars for sale, but they’re only available until Nov. 27, so make sure you grab one before they're gone. It’s a great opportunity to win some great prizes while supporting the local community.

This year, you can choose between buying a physical or digital calendar.

You can pick up a physical calendar, with artwork designed by local artist Dale Dirks, from Save-on-Foods in Kelowna, West Kelowna and Lake Country, at the KGH Gift Shop or at one of the pop-up sales that will be occurring throughout November at KGH, Save-on-Foods, Rockets Games and craft fairs.

You can also purchase a digital calendar instead at the Kelowna Sunrise Rotary Club website here.
