Day 1: Check out Mountain Snow School at Revelstoke Mountain Resort

Our 8 and 4 year old enjoyed beginner and intermediate lessons at RMR’s new facilities for Mountain Snow School with one on one instructors.

We found this one to one instruction to be paramount to our oldest son’s success and positive attitude towards skiing so that’s how we started our next child on the hill and let me tell you, last year you couldn’t so much as hold up our middle child’s snowsuit without him bursting into tears for all his hatred of being in the cold. I truly didn’t know how he’d react to being on skis and he loved every minute of it!

There is an amazing tube-crazy carpet where his training took place and a Mountain Snow School chalet for snacks, lunch, and hot chocolate.

For lunch, recharge at Rockford Grill in the ski village, a local favourite that combines panoramic views of the mountains with delectable cuisine.

Located just steps from the bottom gondola, indulge in hearty dishes crafted from locally sourced ingredients. I’m still dreaming about my Tuna Poke Bowl and Jake’s Truffle Shuffle Burger.

Relax:

Head back to Basecamp for a muscle-relaxing hot tub while overlooking the Columbia River. Plan a relaxing dinner-in since Basecamp Resort’s suites have fully stocked kitchens.

Enjoy a movie on the flat screen TV as you chill from the busy day in the spacious living room.

Day 2: Dog Sledding with Revelstoke Dog Sled Adventures

Embark on a truly unique, Canadian experience with Revelstoke Dog Sled Adventures.

Feel the rush of the crisp mountain air as a team of energetic Alaskan huskies pulls you 20 km through the enchanting snowy landscape.

This hands-on dog sledding experience allows you to connect with nature and these incredible animals. With the mountains in front of us and the turquoise river beside us, it’s truly an unforgettable activity.

My two older boys and I were able to share one dog sled for this trek which takes around 2-3 hours. Our guide pointed out evidence of wildlife such as tracks and bear scratches on the surrounding birch trees.

As the exhilarating adventure comes to an end, treat yourself to a delicious lunch at Terra Firma, open 7 days a week 7am to 4pm. It’s a local gem known for its local menu and warm country-kitchen ambiance.

This farm-to-table restaurant even sources the grain they use to bake fresh sourdough daily from within BC!

This is home to the best grilled-cheese or “Toastie” I think I’ve ever had. Terra Firma has cafe vibes so if all you need is a really good latte or London Fog, this is still a must-stop.

Day 3: Caffeine and Artistry

Begin your day with a visit to Holm Coffee, a vibing roastery where the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafts through the air.

This open space is welcoming and funky with thrifted pieces that create a vintage flair. Standing in line for the first time, a young local overheard us talking about the drive home ahead and said, “You came to the right place, this is the best coffee in town!”

She wasn’t wrong. You’ll have to check it out for yourself on your next Revelstoke visit!

I remember our very first trip to Revelstoke happened to be over a weekend-long art festival with local art installations put up all over town.

Main street and a few adjoining alleyways were proudly announcing the hard work of creative minds and talented artists. There was something about that festival that made me fall in love with Revy.

One way to experience art in Revelstoke is to visit the Big Eddy Glassworks, a glass blowing studio where you can shop their unique products hand-blown by Leah Allison and take part in designing your own up-cycled sandblasted cup. This drop-in activity takes approximately 40 minutes (anytime during business hours). This makes the perfect souvenir for your Revelstoke getaway.

Thank you so much for following @loewenlifestyle as we travel this amazing province and beyond to bring you inspired trips from BC’s hidden gems.

Make sure you check in frequently for amazing getaway giveaways to all of our favourite accommodations. I’m looking forward to new adventures in 2024!
