You and your partner have really been needing a break from work, the kids and day-to-day responsibilities. You both have been exhausted trying to keep up with working full-time, taking care of your children and staying on top of everything else you have to do.
Your parents agree to take care of your kids for a weekend and insist you book a weekend getaway. To make sure you’re close by, in service and have a short travel time, you decide to spend the weekend in Vernon.
The accommodations are booked at Sparkling Hill Resort. You’ve heard nothing but raving reviews so you decided to pull the trigger and book it. Upon arrival, you and your partner are blown away. The crystal architecture is mesmerizing and the ambience of the resort is luxurious, modern and timeless.
Your room has one of the best views you’ve ever seen. You watch the sunset over the valley and the sky lights up with a vibrant orange, red and pink. It’s unlike anything you’ve seen before. The doorbell rings and room service is delivered for a private dining experience. Your partner pops the bottle of champagne and you ring in the weekend getaway.
The next morning, you decide you’d like a massage to relax your body and mind. You head down to KurSpa and get a 1-hour Himalayan Detox Massage. Your partner quickly joins and receives a Lavender Fields Massage.
Predator Ridge is closely located nearby and offers snowshoe rentals and trails. You head over to the rental office, rent some gear and trek out on the trails for an afternoon enjoying nature and exercise. You loop around the resort to see it in all its glory then stop for delicious, authentic pizza at Pallino’s Italian Bistro, a restaurant at Predator Ridge.
The next day you check out of Sparkling Hill completely satisfied with your relaxing stay. While driving through Vernon, your partner takes a detour and stops the car at the Vernon Community Arts Centre.
Surprise! It’s time to take an art class. Now instead of talking about how you want to start painting, you get to actually do it. The instructor teaches you valuable lessons in painting and you leave feeling confident that you have the knowledge to start creating beautiful pieces of artwork.
On your way out you notice that the community centre has all kinds of classes such as pottery, music, drawing, glass art and more specialized classes for adults or kids.
One of the locals in the class recommended grabbing a late brunch at EATology, her favourite restaurant in town. Hungry and eager to get something delicious to eat, you and your partner decide to dine in.
You order a Mexican Skillet and your partner orders an Eggs Benny with pulled pork. Not only was the food delicious with fresh and locally sourced ingredients, but the service was some of the best you’ve received.
The drive back home to reality isn’t dreadful, but happy. You feel revived, as though you just hit reset, and feel nothing short of great.
