Job Search

For job seekers, the WorkBC Centres provide various resources such as resume updating, cover letter assistance, guidance with online application systems, and interview preparation. We provide templates, workshops, and one-on-one support to ensure your application documents and job search techniques are up to date and tailored to the job posting you are applying for.

Entry-level and Safety Certifications

If you require entry-level or safety certifications to start working, we can assist you in finding reputable training providers. Certifications such as First Aid, H2S Alive, WHMIS, CSTS-2020, FoodSafe, Super Host, and others can be arranged. We also offer access to computers and cameras for online training components. Depending on your financial eligibility, tuition and additional funding may be available.

Starting a job

Once you have a confirmed job offer, we can help with the transition. WorkBC can provide support for purchasing necessary tools, work clothing, safety equipment, and transportation to the job site. Financial assistance is available for eligible candidates who lack the means to cover these costs before receiving their first paycheque. Candidates are required to meet the eligibility criteria.

Financial support for a job may include:

  • Dependent care
  • Essential work clothing
  • Essential work supplies, tools, and equipment
  • Language interpretation
  • Personal grooming and hygiene supports
  • Licensing
