The troubles for Michigan State University are continuing.
Just months after their former gymnastic team doctor was sentenced for multiple accounts of sexual assault, another staff member is facing grotesque charges.
Today, Joseph Hattey, a health physicist at the university, was charged with two counts of bestiality by Michigan’s Attorney General, Bill Schuette.
The crime is officially known as Committing a Crime Against Nature and it comes with up to 15-years in jail if he’s convicted.
Hattey allegedly penetrated a dog with both his hands and penis.
The dog has since been removed from harm and is currently in the custody of Ingham County Animal Control, who conducted the investigation alongside the Ingham County Sheriff’s Department.
Michigan State University released the following statement regarding the charges against Hattey:
Michigan State University was informed by the MSU Police Department on April 17 of a criminal investigation against Joseph Hattey, a health physicist with the Environmental Health and Safety Unit (note this position does not work with students, patients or animals). Hattey was immediately put on administrative suspension, pending the investigation. The university has been and will continue to cooperate with law enforcement officials on this matter. MSUPD is providing digital forensic support in the investigation.
