Australia Zoo in Queensland is finally showing off a special family member to the world.
The zoo’s first white koala was born back in January and now she’s finally venturing out into the world from the safety of his mom’s pouch.
She was one of 12 joeys born and is the only white one, making her quite unique.
Similar to the rare white moose spotted in Sweden the other day, the young koala isn’t albino, which you can tell by a lack of pink nose and eyes.
“It would be less unusual to see an albino koala,” said Australia Zoo in a statement.
“The fact that this little girl’s eyes and nose are the usual brown/black while her fur is so light is very unusual.”
The little joey was born to mom Tia and dad Slater and is currently on display in the special ‘Mums and Bubs’ branches at the zoo.
Thousands of people have chimed in with name ideas for the rare koala on the zoo’s Facebook page.
The ideas range from Elsa, after the disney princess, to Kukongola, which means beauty in the native language of Malawi, to Snowflake, which was suggested by a Canadian.
Australia Zoo may have used up the best possible name with their last baby koala, however, which they named Macadamia.
