One of the world’s rock legends has died.
On Tuesday, news broke that the Prince of Darkness, Ozzy Osbourne, died at the age of 76.
The family issued a statement confirming his death.
“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time,” the statement said.
His death comes just weeks after the Black Sabbath farewell show at Villa Park, Birmingham.
The show included tributes from some of the world’s top rock bands including Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer and Alice in Chains.
Osbourne started his career with Black Sabbath in 1968 and the band produced a number of hits including “Paranoid,” War Pigs,” and “Iron Man.”
They were inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005 and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the following year.
The band also won two Grammy Awards for Best Metal Performance, and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
Osbourne also released a number of iconic solo releases including “Crazy Train” and “No More Tears.”
In addition to his musical career, Osbourne, his wife Sharon and two of his five children, Kelly and Jack, starred on their own hit reality show “The Osbournes” from 2002 to 2005.
He was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in early 2019 but did not make it public knowledge until the following year.
Ozzy was born on Dec. 3, 1948 in Marston Green, United Kingdom.
He leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Sharon, and six children Kelly, Aimee, Jack, Jessica, Louis and Elliot plus numerous grandchildren.
