A new foundation has been established in honour of former Soundgarden frontman, Chris Cornell.
The Chris Cornell Music Therapy Program was announced this week. The program will cater to vulnerable children, from infants up to the age of five.
The Chris & Vicky Cornell Foundation was formed in 2012 with the goal of protecting vulnerable children.
But after working with vulnerable children, they were especially drawn to this cause and formed the foundation.
Now the foundation is taking a different turn and Vicky Cornell has partnered with Childhaven.
Childhaven provided a statement about the new partnership on Thursday:
"We're very excited to announce the Chris Cornell Music Therapy Program at Childhaven. This program will bring our music therapy service to more trauma-affected children thanks to a contribution from the Chris & Vicky Cornell Foundation. RIP Chris; we're proud to be carrying on your legacy by bringing the power of music to the most vulnerable children in our community."
The musician heading up the new foundation is Brian Vogan.
He posted a message of gratitude earlier this week stating, "Chris's legacy will live on through the children of Seattle and beyond. Cheers to an amazing artist, musician and person!!! -B. Vogan and the Childhaven kids."
Cornell's wife, Vicky thanked everyone for their support on the new program over an emotional tweet message this week.
Reading all your messages. Thank you for sharing so much love. You truly give me strength for our children and for my love @chriscornell .

Both Chris and Vicky had been involved in several non-profits prior to 2012 - many of which flew under the radar.
Just watch him perform 'The Promise,' a song based on a movie about the Armenian genocide.
Chris, the lead singer of Soundgarden and Audioslave died on May 18th of this year.
