The emergency department closures continue to pile up for Interior Health.
The health authority announced a trio of closures on Monday night – one lasting 14 hours another lasting 13 hours and the other just under 10 hours.
First up was a 14-hour closure of the South Okanagan General Hospital in Oliver from 5 pm Monday until 7 am today.
Patients needing emergency care were told to make the 40-minute trek north to Penticton during the closure.
Next up was the Lillooet Hospital and Health Centre, which shut its doors at 7 pm Monday and will reopen at 8 am today.
People in Lillooet were advised to drive two hours to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops for emergency care during that time.
At the same time that Lillooet’s emergency department reopens at 8 am, the closure at the South Similkameen Health Centre in Keremeos will begin.
Keremeos residents will be without emergency department service from 8 am until 5:30 pm Tuesday.
Like those in Oliver, patients are being told to make the 45 minute drive to Penticton Regional Hospital for emergency care.
