If you rely on a Crock-Pot to make fantastic creations in the kitchen, double check to make sure yours wasn’t just recalled.
On Tuesday, Health Canada issued a recall notice for the Crock-Pot 6-Quart Express Crock Multi-Cookers with model numbers SCCPPC600-V1 and SCCPPC600-V1-033.
There were 28,336 units sold in Canada between April 2018 and November 2020.
"The recalled Crock-Pot multi-cooker can pressurize when the lid is not properly locked, and cause the lid to suddenly detach while the product is in use, posing burn risks to consumers from hot food and liquids,” said the recall notice.
As of last week, the company has received two reports of the lid detaching during use in Canada and 119 reports of the same thing in the United States.
It has resulted in over 100 “burn injuries ranging in severity from first-degree to third-degree burns.”
According to Health Canada, affected Crock-Pots were manufactured by Sunbeam Products Inc. between March 20, 2018 and Sept. 18, 2018 and have date codes L079JN through L261JN.
The date code is engraved on one of the prongs of the electrical plug and on the bottom of the unit.
