Over 40,000 Canadian Tire kids' garden tools recalled due to excessive barium content

Tens of thousands of garden tools for kids sold at Canadian Tire have been recalled after tests revealed they contain an excessive amount of barium.

The Yardworks Assist Kids Garden Tools – product number 059-7144 – was sold between 2019 and 2021.

More than 42,000 of the products are known to have been sold.

Canadian Tire said it found more barium in the coating of the tools than is permitted by the Canadian Toys Regulations.

Anyone in possession of one of the products is advised to immediately stop using it and seek a refund.

As of March 24, no injuries have been reported in relation to the products.

They were manufactured in China.
