Apple travel adapter recalled over electric shock concerns

An Apple charger adapter has been recalled over concerns it could cause electric shocks.

The three-prong AC wall plug adapters in the Apple World Travel Adapter Kit could break and pose a risk of electric shocks, Health Canada explained.

The adapters are used to charge Mac computers and certain iOS devices in foreign countries with AC wall outlets different from Canada’s.

Apple’s three-prong adapter is designed primarily for use in the United Kingdom, Singapore and Hong Kong.

The devices affected are white and have no letters in the inside slot where it attaches to the Apple power adapter.

White adapters with grey on the inside are not affected by the recall.

Health Canada said there have been no reports of consumer incidents in Canada as of May 3.

There have been 81,280 of the products sold in Canada and 813,941 in the U.S.

They are made in China.
