Ridehailing company URide has made life easier for both parents and pawrents

A pair of new initiatives from URide are making safe travel easier for parents.

Whether you have a young child or your child is a four-legged furry friend, the ridehailing company has you covered with its new pet-friendly and booster seat ride options.

Pet-friendly rides launched on Monday, July 7, allowing people in all URide markets to bring their pets along for an additional $5 fee.

Passengers can simply request a pet-friendly ride in the app and drivers who have opted into the program will respond.

“We’re proud to launch this feature in every single URide city,” said URide founder and CEO Cody Ruberto, who lives in Kelowna.

“We want URide to be inclusive and accessible for all riders and for all pets. This change means fewer cancelled rides for pet owners and more choice for our drivers.”

The company notes that riders travelling with a service animal do not need to use this feature or pay an additional fee, and can just book their ride normally.

Hot on the heels of their pet-friendly ride announcement, URide launched a new accessibility initiative less than two weeks later.

It’s a Booster Seat feature, now available in all URide markets, that ensures safer and more comfortable transportation for young children.

Parents can simply select the booster seat option when booking a trip and have peace of mind that their child will have the appropriate seating for a trip of any length.

“We know that for families, getting around with young children can be challenging,” said Ruberto. “This feature is about providing safer, stress-free travel for riders of all ages, especially our youngest passengers.”

URide was founded by Ruberto in Thunder Bay and now operates in 24 cities across Canada and Mexico, with expansion underway in Germany and Poland.

While the company is still headquartered in the western Ontario city, Ruberto made the move to Kelowna to lead the ridehailing business’ Western Canada operations.
