Ben Moss Jewellers has announced that it will be closing more store locations as 54 locations in western Canada begin a going-out-of-business sale.
In early May the company said it would shutter underperforming stores as it looked to restructure the company. Initially, Ben Moss had planned to close 11 underperforming retail locations, but more store closings have been announced.
"After considering all of our restructuring options, including selling all or part of the business as a going concern, we have determined that this is the best course based on the challenges we are facing," said Naveed Manzoor of FAAN Advisors Group Inc., Chief Restructuring Officer of Ben Moss.
The Winnipeg-based company has been Canadian owned and operated since 1910 but after being hit by the weak Loonie and soft economy in Western Canada, Ben Moss obtained court protection.
Everything will be sold off at locations across the county with discounts up to 40 per cent on all merchandise including gold, silver and diamonds.
