1. First baby born after a uterus transplant from a deceased donor

A mother who received a uterus transplant from a deceased donor gave birth to a healthy baby girl in Sau Paolo. The transplant operation was performed in 2016. The operation is expected to help thousands of women who are unable to have children.

2. A journalist’s crime podcast leads to an arrest in cold case from 1982

Hedley Thomas, an Australian journalist, is being praised for his crime podcast The Teacher’s Pet, about the disappearance of Lynette Dawson in 1982. The cold case was reopened in September after Thomas’ podcast exposed holes in the original investigation. Police arrested a Queensland man named Chris Dawson three months later.

3. Today is 41st President George H.W. Bush’s funeral

Today has been declared a “National Day of Mourning” for 41st President George H.W. Bush. Today is the former president’s state funeral at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. Bush passed away on Dec. 1 at the age of 94.

4. Keeping Friends on Netflix is costing the streaming service $100 million

Netflix will have one more year of the popular sitcom Friends, but with a price tag of $100 million, reports the New York Times. The licensing cost them $30 million a year to stream the show.

5. Cuba says citizens will be offered full internet access starting this week

The communist governed country of Cuba has announced that citizens will have be offered full internet access on their mobile phone starting this week. Until now, they were only able to access state-run email on their phones. It will roll out the mobile internet service for the first time, however, many will not be able to afford it.
