A devastating, powerful 7.8-magnitude earthquake rocked southeastern Turkey and northern Syria early Monday. It toppled hundreds of buildings and has killed more than 2,300 people, with that tally quickly rising as hundreds more are believed to be still trapped under rubble. The situation was made far worse by more than 20 aftershocks, including one that measured 7.5 on the Richter scale.

Astronomers have discovered 12 new moons around Jupiter. It raises the planet’s moon count to 92, which is the most in the solar system. Saturn, who at one time was the leader in moons, is now in second place with 83. Jupiter’s new moons were discovered using telescopes in Hawaii and Chile in 2021 and 2022, and their orbits were confirmed with follow-up observations.

The Grammy Awards were held on Sunday night and it was Harry Styles that walked away with the evening’s biggest prize. The 29-year-old won Album of the Year for Harry’s House, beating out other big names like Beyoncé, Adele, Lizzo, Coldplay and ABBA. Lizzo won Record of the Year for “About Damn Time,” while Bonnie Raitt was the surprise winner of Song of the Year for “Just Like That.”

A near-two-year investigation into illegal moose hunting in northwestern Ontario has finally culminated in a significant fine. In total, $50,000 in fines were handed out to four Americans and two Canadians involved. The men shot a cow moose from a boat in October 2019.

Kyrie Irving got his wish. The Brooklyn Nets traded the superstar to the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday in exchange for two players and a package of draft picks. The move gives Luka Doncic another all-star to help him in Dallas, while Brooklyn can move on from the player who requested a trade on Thursday.
