As temperatures drop close to the freezing mark in Florida, a weird phenomenon is happening. Iguanas are falling from trees. It’s because they’re cold-blooded lizards, which means they slow down and stiffen up in temperatures this cold, causing them to lose grip of trees. Floridians are being reminded that if they see this, the animal is not dead and to leave it be.
"Don't be surprised if you see iguanas falling from the trees tonight," the Miami National Weather Service office tweeted. When iguanas' bodies go dormant, they appear to fall from the sky. And since they're large, it can be dangerous if one lands on you. https://t.co/8M4WHu8X80
