5. Quebec mother saves girl, 8, from drowning at backyard pool party

A backyard pool party in Quebec nearly turned tragic after an eight-year-old girl drifted into the deep end unnoticed. She was unresponsive by the time she was pulled from the water, but Sandra Zagury, a physical education teacher, stepped in to deliver CPR. Within a minute, the girl showed signs of life and was rushed to hospital for treatment. The girl’s mother, Umananthini Shanmugarajah, was not at the party and said she will always be grateful for Zagury’s actions.
