One Canadian was aboard a London-bound Air India flight that crashed in Ahmedabad today, Mark Carney has said. More than 240 passengers were on the plane, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. One man – a British national – is reported to have survived the crash.

Jobs Minister Patty Hajdu has said it's in the "public interest" to put Canada Post's latest offers to workers up for a vote. The Canadian Union of Postal Workers has rejected the idea of a membership vote on the latest offer, requesting arbitration instead, but Hajdu said she'll direct the Canada Industrial Relations Board to hold a ballot as soon as possible.

There are growing doubts about building a hydrogen export industry in Newfoundland and Labrador as the province is owed a total of $13.7 million in fees from companies using Crown land. Karlis Povisils, from investment firm Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, said "the world thought everything was going to be running on hydrogen" back in 2021 and 2022, but added that now "the hype has boiled off."

There's been optimism in Canada and the US that a tariff deal could be agreed between Mark Carney and Donald Trump before the G7 summit in Kananaskis begins on June 15. "[Trump] likes to deliver big wins and the other G7 leaders are smart enough to deliver agreements which are real wins," said John Kirton, director of the G7 Research Group at the University of Toronto.

Staff are being evacuated from the US embassy in Baghdad due to increasing tensions between Israel and Iran, according to reports. Media outlets in the US have reported that some officials believe Israel is planning to attack Iran's nuclear facilities within days.
