The man selected to serve as Donald Trump's "border czar" has said the US border with Canada represents an "extreme national security vulnerability." Tom Homan, who was born about an hour's drive from the border, said he expects to have "tough conversations" with Ottawa when he gets into the saddle in January, adding: "There has to be an understanding from Canada that they can't be a gateway to terrorists coming into the United States."

In more Trump news, the president-elect is set to meet with President Joe Biden today in what is sure to be a much-scrutinized encounter. Trump has also revealed his appointment of Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to lead the "Department of Government Efficiency."

In another instance of a Canadian school disgracing itself on Remembrance Day, the principal of Sir Robert Borden High School in Ottawa has apologized for playing a Palestinian protest song during an event to commemorate the sacrifices of Canadian veterans. Aaron Hobbs reportedly justified the move at the time by making a remark about race, claiming that Remembrance Day is usually about "a white guy who has done something related to the military.”
