Mark Carney has announced that he's going to Washington, DC once again, with the prime minister expecting to land in the US capital on Monday evening. Carney will meet with President Donald Trump for a discussion focused on "shared priorities in a new economic and security relationship between Canada and the US," according to his office. Meanwhile one of Carney's ministers, Dominic LeBlanc, said on Thursday he had "lost the illusion" that he can "predict ... when we may get to an agreement" with the US.

The CEO of Canada's largest oil pipeline firm, Enbridge, has said "no company" will get involved in Alberta's proposed pipeline to the BC coast unless the Liberal government abandons policies – including the tanker ban, carbon tax and emissions cap – he said are hostile to the industry. Greg Ebel said the Liberal government of Justin Trudeau had been "a competitiveness disaster for Canada," but added: "The next 10 can be a renaissance."

There were only "small scale" foreign interference operations in the last federal election, according to a multi-agency government group. The Security and Intelligence Threats to Elections Task Force noted activity by China and Russia, as well as attempts to promote cryptocurrency scams using politicians' names and likenesses.

An election official in the Quebec riding of Terrebonne – won by the Liberals by a single vote in April – noticed a mistake on dozens of mail-in ballot envelopes weeks before the election was held, according to a new report. The employee said he immediately corrected his mistake but estimated that a minimum of 40 envelopes were sent out with the wrong postal code.

US President Donald Trump has warned Hamas it will face "all hell" if it refuses to accept an American peace plan by 6 pm Washington, DC time on Sunday. In his Truth Social post, the president wrote: "THERE WILL BE PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST ONE WAY OR THE OTHER."
