1. Carney in Mexico to sign new deal on trade, security and more

Prime Minister Mark Carney is expected to sign a new agreement with Mexico during his visit to Mexico City today. According to reports, the deal will cover infrastructure, trade, health, agriculture and security. It comes as both countries prepare to renegotiate the US-Canada-Mexico trade deal next year.


2. Champagne says it's 'sad' that US has 'turned its back' on Canada

Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne, meanwhile, has said it is "sad" that the US has "turned its back" on Canada since the re-election of US President Donald Trump. Champagne also claimed Trump's trade war against Canada has imposed "a lot of the costs" that his upcoming budget will attempt to cover, adding that Ottawa has been forced to "reinvent" the national economy.


3. Left-wing activists to protest against Carney's policies this weekend

Left-wing activists are planning nationwide protests against the Liberal government this weekend, with organizers saying a "common front" has emerged to resist Carney's policies. The "Draw The Line" protests are designed to push back against the prime minister's support for fossil fuel projects, public service job cuts, increased military support and enhanced border control.


4. Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron to provide photographic evidence proving French first lady is female

French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte are planning to present photographic and scientific evidence to a US court to prove that France's first lady is indeed a woman. The couple is suing US political commentator Candace Owens over her repeated claims that Brigitte is a man.


5. Danielle Smith wants to use 'all legal means' to take control of immigration from Ottawa

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has directed her jobs minister to use "all legal means" to obtain more control over immigration from Ottawa. She told Joseph Schow to ensure Alberta receives sustainable levels of migrants, while focusing on attracting "economic migrants able to contribute to the growth of our economy."
