Canada's provinces and territories ranked in terms of politeness

Canadians are well known for using please and thank you.

However, from coast to coast, which province or territory in the Great White North takes the "nice guy" crown?

FreshBooks, a Toronto-based company that specializes in accounting services, has ranked Canada's regions in order of politeness.

To create this list, Freshbooks analyzed the percentage of invoices that contained either please and thank you, or merci and s'il vous plait. Here’s the list:

  • New Brunswick 15%
  • Prince Edward Island 12%
  • British Columbia 10%
  • Alberta 9%
  • Ontario 9%
  • Nova Scotia 8%
  • Quebec 7%
  • Saskatchewan 7%
  • Newfoundland and Labrador 6%
  • Northwest Territories 6%
  • Manitoba 6%
  • Yukon 4%

It appears that East Coast hospitality is no joke as New Brunswick and P.E.I took the top spots and the official "nice guy" crown.

Close behind was B.C., which we can only assume is due to that famous warm climate and maybe a bit of the BC Bud.

The bottom ranks were dominated by some of the coldest places in the country and we don't blame the folks up north if they forget a please or thank you now and then.
