BCCOS investigating group of 4 accused of pit lamping and more

Conservation officers in the BC Interior seized two mule deer carasses and a firearm from a group of hunters early last week.

According to the BC Conservation Officer Service (BCCOS), officers received a report of a vehicle pit lamping and discharging firearms shortly before 8 pm on Tuesday, Oct. 24.

They attended the scene in a rural area west of Williams Lake near the Rudy Johnson Bridge and found a vehicle with four people inside.

They reportedly were in the possession of one firearm and two mule deer carcasses.

“The BCCOS obtained evidence that the driver of the vehicle hunted with the use of a light after sunset, discharged a firearm from a maintained roadway and trespassed on private property,” the agency explained.

Both carcasses and the firearm were seized and the BCCOS continues to investigate the incident.

The meat from both mule deer were donated to local First Nations.
