(UPDATE: Nov. 15 @ 3:40 pm) - The RCMP in the BC Interior says 911 police dispatch issues for non-emergency calls have been resolved.
The 911 police dispatch centre for the BC RCMP's Southeast District has restored the connections necessary to fix the issues that first arose late Tuesday afternoon.
“We were able to quickly restore the necessary functionality for all after hours calls and while work continues internally," said S/Sgt. Kris Clark. "We are not anticipating further interruptions to service delivery."
People will now be able to call their local detachment after regular business hours and be dealt with in priority sequence.
According to the RCMP, 911 calls for service were not affected and people are encouraged to call 911 if they have an emergency.
(Original story: Nov. 14 @ 4:45 pm) - The BC RCMP Southeast District is experiencing issues with the ability to transfer non-emergency calls.
In a release issued Tuesday afternoon, the BC RCMP say the service interruption is not affecting 911 calls, which are being routed and dispatched as normal.
The impact to the general public is with the non-emergency lines, which cannot be routed to the dispatch centre after hours as normal.
“This outage is temporary and we are working hard to return to full service delivery as quickly as possible,” said S/Sgt Kris Clark of the BC RCMP.
“If you have a non-emergency call outside of normal business hours, please expect that your call may not be returned until the next business day.”
All other emergencies can still be reported by calling 911.
No details were provided about when the non-emergency call service will up and running.
