More than a year after a targeted shooting killed a man in Sicamous, police are once again asking anyone with information about the murder to come forward.
On Feb. 24, 2024, at around 4:50 pm, Sicamous RCMP received a report of a shooting in the parking lot of the Best Western hotel along the Trans-Canada Highway.
Upon arrival, police found 38-year-old Matthew Monteith deceased in the parking lot of the hotel.
At the time of the incident, police asked that anyone who saw a black Mercedes G-Wagon fleeing the hotel after the shooting and going westbound on Hwy 1 to come forward and share what they had seen.
On Thursday, police executed a search warrant in the Auburn Bay area of Calgary as part of the investigation into the 38-year-old's murder.
“We’re asking for anyone with information related to the circumstances of Matthew Monteith’s death to contact the Southeast District Major Crime Unit,” said S/Sgt. Jason Smart.
“Any information, no matter how insignificant it might seem, may be of great interest to the investigation and help to determine what led to his death.”
Anyone with information can call the Southeast District Major Crime Unit information line at 1-877-987-8477.
