Mounties are looking for more information surrounding a fatal collision that occurred outside of Hope late Monday night.
On July 11, officers responded to an area on Highway 1 between Boston Bar and Hope for a report of a collision between a tractor-trailer and motorcycle.
Police say that the collision happened when the northbound tractor-trailer lost part of its load while driving around a corner.
Two riders from the Lower Mainland were driving in the southbound lane when they collided with the debris.
Unfortunately, a 64-year-old man was pronounced deceased on the scene while the passenger was transported to a hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
"On behalf of the Hope and Boston Bar RCMP, I would like to extend our deepest condolences to the deceased man’s family," says Ssg. Dwayne Farlin with the Hope RCMP.
“This truly was a tragic collision and our thoughts are with the victim’s family.”
Highway 1 was closed for several hours as emergency personnel worked to clear the area. It reopened shortly after 5 am on July 12,.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing. Multiple agencies are involved, including the BC Coroners Service and Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Services.
Police are now looking to speak to any witnesses who may have travelled the Fraser Canyon on July 11 that have dash cam footage or any other related information.
