BC police chiefs donate $5K to Cops for Kids charity

Cops for Kids, a charitable foundation, received a significant donation late last month.

On Nov. 30, the BC Association of Chiefs of Police presented a $5,000 donation, which will go on to support children who have experienced medical, physical or traumatic crises.

The cheque was presented at the Southeast District RCMP office in Kelowna.

“Our leaders in British Columbia are proud to support charities like Cops for Kids, which offer vital resources to families in crisis,” expressed Deputy Chief Fiona Wilson, President of the BC Association of Chiefs of Police.

“Our commitment to public service extends beyond law enforcement; it's about fostering a supportive community where every family receives the help they need in challenging times.”

Cops for Kids work includes financial assistance for various needs to families in crisis, including medical treatments, therapies and specialized equipment.

Each year police detachments across the BC Interior host different campaigns, including the Cops for Kids annual ride, to raise funds for children and their families.

Each detachment can sign up a team, which requires each member to raise a minimum of $2,500 to particapte.

"Cops for Kids holds a special place in the heart of the law enforcement community," said C/Supt. Brad Haugli, Southeast District Commander.

“Officers witness first-hand the challenges faced by children experiencing health and other crises, and this organization plays an important role in providing much needed support.”
