Another two BC Interior emergency departments have been forced to close today.
Once again Lillooet is affected, alongside Keremeos.
Lillooet’s ER will be shut from 7 am today till 8 am on Saturday, according to Interior Health.
In Keremeos, meanwhile, the closure is set to last from 8 am till 6 pm today.
Anyone in need of emergency care in Lillooet has been told to head to Kamloops, while those in Keremeos have been told to go to Penticton.
Interior Health, announcing the closures in a public bulletin, added: “People in the community who need life-threatening emergency care (i.e., chest pains, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding) should always call 911 for transport to the nearest available and appropriate facility.
“Anyone unsure whether an emergency room visit is warranted can call HealthLink BC at 8-1-1, or visit www.HealthLinkBC.ca for non-emergency health information from nurses, dietitians and pharmacists 24 hours a day, seven days per week.”
Lillooet has so far been the worst-hit ER in the BC Interior this year, with regular closures.
