According to the RCMP, a southbound SUV crossed the centreline and “impacted” a northbound pickup truck.
The crash resulted in both vehicles being “engulfed in flames,” police explained in a media release.
Tragically, both passengers from the pickup truck, a man and woman, suffered fatal injuries.
The driver of the pickup truck and three people inside the SUV were treated at the scene before being transported to hospital with various injuries.
The BCHP noted that two dogs were also involved in the crash and both received medical treatment for injuries.
"This remains an active and ongoing investigation and we’re hoping to speak with anyone who witnessed the crash or may have in-car video," said S/Sgt. Kris Clark.
Anyone with information or video footage that could help investigators piece together the details of this crash is urged to contact the Lytton RCMP at 250-455-2225.
