The BC RCMP’s Major Crime Unit is investigating a homicide that happened in the Similkameen region on Monday.
According to a news release, the RCMP received a report of a man in medical distress on Highway 5A just north of Princeton.
The man, who has been identified as 41-year-old Kyle Shmunk, was inside a brown 2002 Toyota Corolla when paramedics arrived.
Despite life saving efforts, Shmunk succumbed to his injuries.
The Major Crime Unit is now investigating what led to his death and urging witnesses to come forward.
“If you have any information regarding Schmunk, the brown, 2002 Toyota Corolla, dashcam footage or video surveillance from Highway 5A north of Princeton between 12 pm and 3 pm on July 21, 2025, please contact the RCMP,” said S/Sgt Jason Smart of the BC RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit.
