UPDATE: Merritt man, 37, arrested after 3-month search

(UPDATE: Sept. 13 at 5:11 am): The man has been arrested, according to police.

(Original story: Sept. 12 at 12:30 pm): A search for a man considered armed and dangerous is currently underway, say the Merritt RCMP.

Mounties have been looking for 37-year-old Ron Karlson since issuing a warrant for his arrest on June 7.

The arrest warrant was issued after he allegedly failed to comply with his probation and release order.

Cpl. James Grandy with the BC RCMP says the community is urged to stay vigilant as police actively search for him in the community.

Cpl. Grandy says anyone who knows where Karlson is should call the police immediately at 911 or (250) 378-4262.

Karlson is described as:

• A 37-year-old male

• 5’9”

• 170 pounds

• Black hair

• Brown eyes

• Cross tattoo on his left hand

• Additional tattoos on his right hand and neck

This is not the first time the Merritt RCMP have executed an arrest warrant for Karlson.

In November 2022, he was arrested and later went to court for breaching release conditions.
