Patrick Lamour’s recent Keno win was a record-breaking one.
The Merritt resident won exactly $400,052.50, which is the largest Keno prize ever won at a retail location in British Columbia.
“I was at the store checking the ticket and I thought something was wrong with the machine,” he recalled.
“I scanned it at a self-checker and then had the retailer scan it as well to be sure.”
Lamour only started playing Keno last year and now plays once a month, using his children’s birthdays to choose his numbers.
Unsurprisingly, he was very eager to share the news of his big win with his kids.
“I called my daughter and son right away,” said Lamour. “They were more excited than I was!”
He plans to have a celebratory meal with his kids and will gift them part of his prize, but noted that he will take his time to figure out what to do with the rest.
The winning ticket was purchased from the Merritt Shell on DeWolf Way.
