UPDATE: Missing senior, said to be cycling from the Okanagan to Vancouver Island, found safe

(UPDATE: May 8 @ 9:30 am) - Guy Walter Reginald Rutledge has been found.

The RCMP says he is "safe and well."

Police thanked the public, as well as their "valued partners" at Vernon and Central Okanagan search and rescue, for their help in locating Rutledge.


(Original story: May 7 @ 1:40 pm) - Mounties in the North Okanagan have put out a public plea for information as they try to track down a missing senior.

According to police, 70-year-old Guy Walter Reginald Rutledge was last heard from five days ago.

“At the time, he told family he planned to travel to Vancouver Island through Kelowna on a bicycle,” explained an RCMP release. “He has not been heard from since, and police and his family are concerned for his wellbeing.”

Police provided the following description of Rutledge:

  • 70 years old
  • 5’9”
  • 160 lbs
  • White hair
  • Blue eyes
  • Has a tattoo of a hummingbird on his upper arm

Anyone who has seen Rutledge, or has information on his whereabouts, is urged to contact their local police or Crime Stoppers.
