BC RCMP are looking to the public for helping following a terrible collision on Hwy 5 near Merritt on Friday.
According to police, investigators are seeking dashcam footage and witnesses to come forward and explain what they saw from the crash that occurred shortly before 11 am at Larson Hill. The collision, which occurred between a semi-truck and four vehicles, left two people critically injured.
Investigators mentioned that quick action from emergency crews saved the life of the semi-truck driver, who was stuck in his vehicle while it was on fire.
"An officer and Ministry of Transport Employees were able to pull a vehicle out of harms way while the driver was trapped inside, saving his life from the impending fire," said Sgt. Josh Rhoda. "Two of the occupants involved the crash remain in critical condition in hospital."
"This a stark reminder for people that winter is here. Snow and speed don't mix, and everyone driving on our highways needs to slow down and have winter tires or chains."
Anyone with information is urged to contact Merritt RCMP at 250-378-4262.
