Three men have been fined after trespassing on private property and shooting deer in the British Columbia Interior.
Silas Laceese, Peyal Laceese and Joseph Toby pleaded guilty to hunting without consideration for the lives, safety or property of others in December, the Conservation Officer Service (COS) said this week.
The trio also pleaded guilty to trespassing.
Each received a $3,000 fine alongside a $450 victim surcharge.
The COS said it found the men on private property west of Williams Lake in October 2022.
They were using “high-powered lights,” the COS said, and were arrested at the scene for trespassing and hunting at night.
Officers also seized the trio’s pickup truck, three phones, four guns and five dead mule deer bucks.
The deer were donated to the Yunesitʼin First Nation.
As part of their sentencing, the men were also issued with a three-year order prohibiting them from hunting or accompanying hunters outside of their traditional territory.
COS said the men also agreed to write apology letters to the victims of their offences.
