The latest winter storm to hit British Columbia will bring heavy snow and windy conditions to multiple sections of Hwy 3.
Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for the highway, both at Allison Pass between Hope and Princeton, as well as the Paulson Summit and Kootenay Pass in the Interior.
Starting tonight and continuing into Saturday, both routes are expected to be hit with 20-30 centimetres of snow.
Heavy snow will taper off into a few flurries overnight on Saturday and into Sunday.
In addition, EC warns of blowing snow due to strong southwest winds of 50 km/h that will gust up to 70 km/h.
“Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow,” warned EC.
“Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Poor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays.”
