Another eight new cases of COVID-19 were announced by Interior Health on Wednesday.
It brings the total number of cases in the BC Interior since the start of the pandemic, with 52 of those currently active.
At this time, two people are in hospital due to COVID-19 and one of them is in intensive care.
The biggest news of the day was the declaration of an outbreak at École de l’Anse-au-sable in Kelowna.
It was previously just a COVID-19 exposure, but the designation has been changed after three cases of the virus were confirmed in the school community.
It's the first COVID-19 outbreak to be declared at any BC school.
“This exposure occurred after members of the school community mixed with select cohorts and one another, while others mixed during a break,” said a statement from IH.
“Approximately 160 members of the school community may have been exposed to COVID-19 as a result. They are being supported to self-isolate for 14 days.”
IH continues to provide support to the school’s administrators, staff, students and families.
