With just under two weeks until the season 10 premiere of the Amazing Race Canada, the 11 teams in the competition have been unveiled.
It includes three duos from British Columbia – two of them from Vancouver and one from Prince George.
While originally from Alberta and Ontario respectively, best friends Jesse and Jonathon now call Vancouver home and say they’ll be representing the 2SLGBTQIA+ community during the race.
“Jesse is also racing in memory of his late father, who loved watching the show, and had dreamed to one day run it with one of his kids,” a Bell Media handout explains.
Much like Jesse and Jonathon, the team made up of two women named Rebecca are also Vancouverites who grew up elsewhere.
Originally from Meadow Lake, Sask., and Wrigley, NWT, they say they’re racing to inspire Indigenous youth and people of colour.
“Growing up in small northern communities, these best friends with an unshakeable bond learned resilience and resourcefulness early on,” the Bell Media handout says.
And finally, siblings Grace and Joe were born and raised in Prince George, although Grace now lives in Vancouver, and they’re running the race for their family and Indigenous Community.
“Grace is also a Canadian Screen Award nominated actress who has worked alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in The Revenant, Hilary Swank in Alaska Daily, and Forest Whitaker in How It Ends,” notes the Bell Media handout.
These three BC teams will race alongside eight others with a goal of making it to the end and winning the $250,000 grand prize, which also comes with two 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV SS and a trip around the world.
The annual reality show, hosted by Olympic gold medallist Jon Montgomery, will kick off its new season at 9 pm on Tuesday, July 8, on CTV.
It will run weekly throughout the summer, with the odd exception, and stream the following day on Crave.
