BC houseguest saves himself from eviction on Big Brother Canada Season 9

We have hit the final six in Big Brother Canada Season 9 and it is safe to say that the only smart person in the house may be BC's Kiefer Collison.

Kiefer survived a week where he was nominated by his own alliance member Jedson after Tera won the Power of Veto to take herself off the block. He was put up because Jed said he was going to win the game if he wasn't sent home soon.

Despite being down and practically out, Kiefer bargained and pleaded with Beth, Jed, Ty and Breydon to keep him over Tina. After bringing out the tears, the trio and Breydon allowed Kiefer to stay, effectively abandoning their earlier plans.

This week started off hot following the double eviction, which sent Victoria and Rohan home. Jedson won his first Head of Household competition of the game and was immediately attacked by Tera.

In the comp, the houseguests had to fill their tubes with white balls. Others could put balls with Xs on them into other competitors' tubes to take away from their scores.

Jed narrowly defeated Breydon after getting just over 60 balls. He then nominated Tina and Tera for eviction.

Though the Sunsetters, who consisted of Kiefer, Jed, Beth and Ty at this point, looked good, the thought of backdooring Kiefer kept floating into their heads. With three competition wins under his belt and strong connections to many left who would be going to the jury, Kiefer was a scary person to keep in the game.

Along with Tina and Tera, Beth, Tychon and Kiefer were selected to play in a three-parter POV sponsored by Tik Tok. In the comp, The houseguests had to recreate popular Tik Toks that included stacking shapes blindfolded, finding baking ingredients and making ping pong ball trick shots.

By the end of the three comps, Tera had defeated Tina in a real nailbiter. This meant she could pull herself off the block and guarantee her safety for the week.

After this happened, Kiefer began to boast about how he was "going to win this game" for some reason. Tina advised him to quiet down about his competition wins or risk being put on the block.

Kiefer disagreed, saying the Sunsetters were too loyal to put him up. A short time later, Ty and Jed pulled him in for a difficult conversation.

Once the three were together, Jed told Kiefer that they had to put him up as it was the only logical option. This infuriated Kiefer, though he gave them their blessing as he knew it was the best move for their game.

Days went by and Kiefer started to plant seeds around the house, exposing the Sunsetters to Tera and Breydon. Once the POV ceremony occurred, Kiefer went on the block, which should have sealed his fate.

Leading up to the eviction, Kiefer pulled on the heartstrings of the trio, explaining how he wanted his son to grow up like Jed and that he was so proud to be on the national stage after being "just a kid from the rez."

His stories brought the other houseguests to tears and they eventually decided they wanted to keep the man. Ty and Jed were the ones to let Kiefer know he was staying, which sent Beth into a rage.

She felt like she should have been brought in on the decision, but she eventually got over that. On eviction night, Tina went home by a 3-1 vote with only Tera wanting to keep her.

While most of the house was ready to get Tera out this week, the Big Brother Gods had other plans. After hearing voice recordings all night from evicted houseguests, the five remaining players, minus Jed who could not compete this week, were thrown into a memory competition.

Despite the odds being stacked against her, Tera got the highest score, securing her safety for a second straight week. Her plan was to target the trio, wanting Jed to hit the road.

The last episode saw Beth trying to manipulate Ty and Breydon to volunteer to go on the block in order to backdoor Jed. They didn't fall for her trap and it was the showmance who ended up sitting next to each other nominated for eviction.

What I should note about this week is that the eviction may not stick. Host Arissa Cox informed us that the evictee would be kept hidden for a week and have a chance to battle back against the next person evicted the following week.

Shown below are where I believe some of the houseguests stand after 50 days in the house:

Running the Game:

Kiefer: He should have been evicted last week, but somehow, he saved himself. With Tina gone, Kiefer still has a strong relationship with Ty and Tera, two of the stronger competitors in the house. If Jed or Beth were to leave, he'd be in a perfect position to make the finale. Kiefer has the best resume with two HOH wins and a POV W.

Tychon: Ty hasn't really had to do anything this game, though it has put him in a very good spot. Out of the trio of him, Beth and Jed, no one wants to take him out. He has never been on the block and has strong connections to everyone in the house. Expect a lot of love and a finale birth for Tychon.

Fan Favourites:

Breydon: Brey continues to float by, trying his best at competitions and surviving by the skin of his teeth. He won't win the show but he will come out to some love. Breydon will likely be a casualty in the next week or two because he is at the bottom of the totem poll of his alliances. Best of luck to Brey.

Ty: He is charming, fun and in an excellent position in the game. Though he isn't winning comps, Ty is winning over the hearts of viewers by bringing up diversity on the show and talking about many important world issues. His diary room sessions are also very intelligent and insightful.

In Trouble:

Jedson: He is a target for a large majority of the house and it looks like both Kiefer and Ty are starting not to trust him. He is making poor decisions and is giving up way too much for Beth. Jed is playing with his heart and not his brain, which may lead to his eviciton.

Tera: Even though she won the HOH this week, Tera still doesn't have any really strong allies. People will drop her and throw her under the bus as soon as her week is up. If she can win another comp or two, she could be okay, but that is a big ask. Expect Tera to be on the block next week.

Thoughts from John Luke:

Spoiler warning! Spoiler warning! Spoiler warning! These two weeks have been some of the stupidest gameplay in Big Brother history and it is only getting worse. Keeping Kiefer was absolutely the wrong decision and Jedson will more than likely pay for it. I've kept up with BB Twitter and the live feeds this week and the results have been crazy. Though we have not seen the episode, it looks as though Jed won the POV and took down Beth rather than himself. This could have sealed the fate of him or Ty if Tera was smart enough to put him up, but she reportedly renominated Breydon. The trio could escape this week, which is so, so stupid. I am at a loss for words. Other than that, Kiefer had a really good week, got himself off, which was wild. Tera was fun, Beth was manipulative and Jedson is really in love. I wish all the houseguests the best and hope for a good end to the season.

These opinions are just based on the 21 aired episodes. Those looking for up-to-date information are encouraged to check out the BBC live feeds.
