A Canadian version of the critically-acclaimed A&E show Hoarders is coming and the casting process is now underway.
Saloon Media announced on Tuesday that it has entered into an agreement with A&E Network to produce the first-ever format commission of Hoarders outside of the United States.
Now greenlit, the series will follow a team of experts as they tackle some of Canada’s most challenging hoards, giving viewers an in-depth look at the emotional stories of those dealing with compulsive hoarding behaviours.
“We’re delighted to be involved with a franchise series as successful and long-standing as Hoarders,” said Michael Kot, managing director at Saloon Media.
“In keeping with A&E Network’s format, Hoarders: Canada will be shot documentary-style and with the utmost respect for those sharing their emotional stories.”
Hoarders: Canada will explore the world of extreme hoarding and take a deep dive into the real-life stories of those directly affected by it.
Like its American counterpart, each episode will introduce viewers to people from across Canada as a team of experts try to help clean out massive hoards and set up these individuals for future success.
It will be a team effort between leading Canadian psychologists and extreme cleanup efforts in order to tackle the significant magnitude of the hoarding situations these families are dealing with.
