New dates have been announced for the Salmon Arm Roots and Blues festival after wildfires caused the cancellation of the 2023 festival.
This year’s event was cancelled just one day into the weekend due to the aggressive Bush Creek East wildfire that burned in the North Shuswap region.
Ticket holders to this year were given refund options in September.
Now, the Salmon Arm Folk Music Society (SAFMS) says they will be welcoming festival goers on the last weekend of July 2024.
“Now in its 32nd year, the SAFMS – the non-profit behind the ROOTSandBLUES festival – hopes the festival will benefit from better weather in July and historically less smoky skies to give everyone the best festival experience possible,” says the SAFMS in a release.
David Gonella, executive director of SAFMS, says the society has been faced with financial hiccups, threats of cancellation due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the recent fires but are eager to share this “positive solution”
“Changing dates isn’t a band-aid fix but a chance to be better prepared,” Gonella says.
Early bird passes to the festival, which will be happening July 26-28, go on sale on Tuesday, Dec. 5 and more information can be found here.
