Carl Weathers, the star of numerous hit movies and shows, has died at the age of 76.
In a report from the Associated Press, the former football linebacker passed away peacefully in his sleep according to his manager.
Weathers played one season with the Oakland Raiders of the NFL (now the Las Vegas Raiders) before joining the BC Lions in the early 1970s.
The Linebacker played for the Lions for a couple of years while studying acting in the offseason.
Weathers then stepped away from the Lions to fully pursue acting, eventually earning the role of Apollo Creed in the Rocky series.
The New Orleans, Louisiana, native went on to appear in Predator (1987), Happy Gilmore and numerous other hits.
Weathers is survived by two sons.
